Infact I installed windows 8 through the same DVD writer. Funnily if I keep the win 8 disc and restart the system, then in win 8 i see the ODD. Cddvdw I have TSST corp CDDVDW SH-222BB ID00 DVD internal DVD writer which works fine in Windows 7 but unrecognised inwindows 8. If I restart the system as usual without WIn 8 OS downloaded disk, it does not recognise the DVD writer.It is just stupid, I tried all things including refrshing win 8 and wasted lot of time and effort.
